"True birders haven"

This is te true birders haven. The park is in the western part of Rwenzori and is dominated by the eastern most extension of the great Ituri forest of the Congo basin. This is one of Africa’s most ancient forest, numerous Central African wildlife species, The local batwa pygmy community, hot bubbly springs. Get the taste of central Africa without having to leave Uganda.

WHAT TO DO

Birding

Do you interest in seeing numerous bird species like yellow throated nicator, red-billed dwarf hornbill, white-crested hornbill or the shoebill stork that is regularly seen close to Lake Albert? This is it! Forest walks are good for tracking water birds with lots of bird species to see.

Game drive

Three tracks to follow that is the savannah grassland of Toro Semuliki wildlife reserve, the smaller forest and larger savannah so you can see elephants, buffalos, waterbuck, crocodile, warthog and Uganda kob if you lucky you may see the pygmy hippopotami, leopard and bush babies.

Hiking and nature walks

The 8 hour round trip from Kirumia trail runs through the forest to the Semuliki River which is perfect for birders.

Cultural encounter hot springs

The famous batwa with a hunter-gatherer lifestyle makes them dependants of Semuliki forest for food, shelter, medicine, tools and so much more come and interact with local communities.

Hot springs

The hours long trail to the "male" spring exposes you to the patch of the forest where you can view the red- tailed monkey, grey-cheeked mangabeys and black and white colabus monkeys, a tree house en-route gives you an aerial view of the forest and through the palm forest a 30 minutes trail from the main road leads to the inner "female" spring dominated by boiling eggs matooke (green plantain) and so much more only to be enjoyed by hungry hikers.
